My name is Flaya. I write about life, the universe and a few other things. Primarily I write about my journey as a transgender person (started androgen blockers in Feb 2016 and oestrogen supplements in June 2016). I live in a quiet neighbourhood with my dogs.
I started writing about trans issues after I came out to my friends on Facebook in late 2015. I've also written a lot about grief and depression since the death of my wife of 17 years in June 2015. I've had about 20 or so of my Facebook friends tell me that they enjoy my writing and like to follow my posts. Given the mostly serious nature of a lot of my written pieces, I've decided it's finally time to abandon social media for my writing and to publish on a more appropriate medium.

PhD candidate. RMIT University
Thesis title: "Inhering computational devices with a sense of image based aesthetics, conforming to human expectations". In a nutshell, seeing if I could get computers to rate the aesthetic appeal of images in a way that correlates with human judgment.
I took my time with this. It spanned several years. Then my wife died and I lost interest. Don't know if I'll ever get around to finishing the final thesis.
Bachelor of Computers Science (Honours). RMIT University.
Thesis title: "Evolutionary Art Using Genetic Programming".
This thesis was well received. I managed to get 8 publications out of it from the collaborations I made with some of the artists that I'd made connections with.
